Anti-Money Laundering Statement
Effective Date: 3 August 2026
At Fidelis Accounting Ltd ("Fidelis", "we", "our", or "us"), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and regulatory compliance. We recognise the important role that accountancy and payroll professionals play in preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and other forms of financial crime.
This Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Statement outlines our commitment to complying with the applicable anti-money laundering legislation and regulations in the United Kingdom.
Our Commitment
Fidelis has a zero-tolerance approach to money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and other financial crimes.
We are committed to:
- Complying with all applicable UK anti-money laundering legislation and regulations.
- Conducting business ethically and responsibly.
- Maintaining robust procedures to identify and manage financial crime risks.
- Reporting suspicious activity where legally required.
- Protecting the integrity of our business, clients and the wider financial system.
Regulatory Compliance
Where applicable, Fidelis complies with the requirements of:
- The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (as amended)
- The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA)
- The Terrorism Act 2000
Customer Due Diligence (CDD)
Before establishing a business relationship, and where required throughout our engagement, we carry out appropriate Customer Due Diligence (CDD) procedures.
These may include verifying:
- The identity of individuals.
- The identity of directors, partners or beneficial owners.
- Business ownership and structure.
- Registered business details.
- The nature and purpose of the business relationship.
- The source of funds or source of wealth where appropriate.
Where enhanced due diligence is required by law or based on our risk assessment, we will carry out additional verification measures.
Ongoing Monitoring
We monitor our client relationships throughout the course of our engagement to ensure that information remains accurate and up to date.
Where circumstances change, we may request updated identification or supporting documentation to meet our legal obligations.
Reporting Suspicious Activity
If we know, suspect or have reasonable grounds to suspect that money laundering or terrorist financing is taking place, we are legally required to report our concerns to the appropriate authorities.
In such circumstances, we may be prohibited by law from informing the client that a report has been made, as this could constitute the criminal offence of "tipping off" under UK legislation.
Record Keeping
In accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, we maintain appropriate records relating to:
- Client identity verification
- Risk assessments
- Customer due diligence
- Transaction records
- AML compliance documentation
These records are retained securely for the period required by law and are disposed of securely when no longer required.
Staff Training
Fidelis is committed to ensuring that relevant personnel receive appropriate anti-money laundering training and understand their responsibilities under UK legislation.
Training is reviewed periodically to reflect changes in legislation, guidance and emerging financial crime risks.
Risk-Based Approach
We adopt a risk-based approach to anti-money laundering compliance, assessing factors including:
- The nature of the client.
- The services being provided.
- Geographic risk.
- The complexity of ownership structures.
- The nature of transactions.
- Other relevant risk indicators.
This enables us to apply appropriate controls that are proportionate to the level of identified risk.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
Information collected for anti-money laundering purposes is processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Client information will only be disclosed where required or permitted by law.
Client Responsibilities
To enable us to meet our legal obligations, clients may be asked to provide documentation including:
- Proof of identity.
- Proof of residential address.
- Company registration information.
- Details of directors, shareholders or beneficial owners.
- Information regarding the nature of business activities.
- Evidence relating to the source of funds where appropriate.
Failure to provide requested information may prevent us from acting or continuing to act on your behalf.

At Fidelis, integrity is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to maintaining robust systems and procedures that help prevent financial crime while delivering professional, compliant and trusted accounting and payroll services.
